It has been too long since I have been to church.
Yes, I am a Christian. Of the Presbyterian variety, in case you were wondering.
As I was taking the pup for a walk, we ended up walking by a Presbyterian church that I had only been in once before (I live about a 45 minutes’ drive away from where I currently am, by the way). It was for a meeting for my Presbytery group for the 2007 Presbyterian Youth Triennium.
And it got me thinking. I miss my Presbytery kids. I miss my small group. I miss worship and the seemingly ridiculous dances and songs we sang (my church is far more traditional than I had originally thought). And I miss all of the people who were there, whether I’d met them or not.
It was a week at Purdue University in Indiana. Thousands of Presbyterian kids aged 15-18 from all over the world. It was huge. And it definitely made an impact on my life. And I miss it.
It comes around once every three years (Triennium. Get it?). I’m too old to go to the 2010 event. I could go back as a volunteer or worker or something like that, but as a poor college student, it is highly unlikely. Oh, how I wish, though.
If a PYT ‘07 alumni happens to come across this (doubtful!), I stayed in the Amelia Earhart dorm building. YAY for air conditioning (and not having to walk to another building for meal times)!
Also, if you were there, then…..
*sings* Istanbul was Constantinople. Now it’s Istanbul, not Constantinople. Been a long time gone since Constantinople. Why did Constantinople get the works? That’s nobody’s business but the Turks.
P.S. That was way too many times to type out Constantinople. But it had to be done.
